Site Preparation
With planning approved, technical designs in place and building control sign-off, the next critical step is site preparation. This phase lays the foundation for a controlled, compliant, and efficient build. Carnegie Group® takes full responsibility for securing the site, adhering to health and safety regulations, and managing all pre-construction requirements.

Taking Control of the Site
From the moment we step on-site, our priority is to establish a safe and well-managed environment. This includes:
- Securing the perimeter with building site hoarding
- Installing welfare facilities
- Setting up health and safety signage
- Clearing and preparing the area
This structured approach puts Carnegie Group® in full control of the site from day one – minimising risks, protecting assets, and preventing issues such as fly-tipping or vandalism.
Managing CDM Regulations on Your Behalf
According to Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations, site safety and compliance are key legal responsibilities. Clients are required to delegate this role to a competent party. As your dedicated principal contractor, Carnegie Group® takes on this responsibility, making certain all risks are assessed and managed in line with industry standards.

Security and Asset Protection
If assets remain on-site, security measures are put in place to protect materials, equipment, and structures. This can include:
- Perimeter fencing
- CCTV surveillance
- Security lighting
- Locked storage units
- On-site security personnel
By securing the site, contractors reduce the risk of theft, vandalism, and unauthorised access, which can lead to costly delays and safety hazards. A well-secured site not only safeguards project resources but also ensures the safety of workers and the surrounding community.
Demolition and Hazard Management
Where demolition is required, careful planning prevents disruption and safety hazards. This includes:
- Carrying out specialist surveys to check for asbestos and other risks
- Disconnecting live services before work begins
- Implementing dust suppression and noise management
- Removing any obstructive structures
With these critical steps completed, the site is ready to move into the demolition phase of construction.
By managing every aspect of site setup and compliance, Carnegie Group® provides a seamless transition from planning to build commencement.
