Focus on…Jeremy Ali, Architectural Director
Jeremy is one of a kind with his esoteric chat and regular sage beard stroking. He’s always available to help people even when he’s taking a call, writing an email and doing a bit of architectural 3D modelling. His capacity for multi-tasking is impressive.
What brought you to Carnegie Group?
“During my time as an architect at a local practice in Crawley, I first encountered Carnegie Group when they were appointed as the main contractor on one of my projects. When I later decided to move on from that role, I reached out to the directors at Carnegie, who invited me to interview for an exciting opportunity to establish and lead an architectural department within the company. Having already enjoyed collaborating with Carnegie from the outside, I was enthused by the chance to join forces directly, with the vision of creating something new: a more streamlined, insightful, and fully integrated design-and-build service for clients.”
Tell us a bit about what you do day to day..
“A typical day for me involves managing a wide variety of emails, phone calls, and project discussions. I dedicate my afternoons to architectural drawing, where I can focus deeply on design. I especially enjoy 3D modelling, as it allows me to bring ideas to life tangibly and creatively, combining technical precision with imaginative vision.”
What keeps you motivated?
“The right mindset and approach are key to staying motivated. At work, I make a conscious effort to remain adaptable and open-minded, ensuring I never become set in my ways. Instead, I focus on sharing my knowledge with confidence and showing a genuine eagerness to support others, striving to inspire progress and collaboration in everything I do.”
If you weren’t an architect what would you be?
“If I weren’t an architect, with those 8 years of study, I would have liked to be involved in events or customer care services with something equally creative.”
And out of work, what’s the story?
“Outside of work, life has become very much wedding planning mode, but I still find time for my nerdy hobbies and meeting friends out in Brighton.”
Final question, what’s your favourite song?
“After going to a few gigs and festivals this summer, I have found a fondness for the music of CMAT. She’s a powerful singer and great performer with some absolute belters for songs.”
We all wish Jeremy the best of luck with the wedding planning but really want to know what those nerdy hobbies are. In the meantime, we’re off to listen to a bit of CMAT.
